I think he means Kilos TigerLily - it's what we are supposed to use in the UK but only the young'uns do it, as they were taught in metric.

didn't see the january slimming club thread until relatively late in January - so thought, never mind, i'll wait till february!!
lost 10 pounds in January (adopted the low-carb diet on 4th Jan) and hoping to achieve the same or more in february. This kind of diet is really workig for me, my BGs levels are great and i feel great on it too - i've always had spots, all my adult life, and for the first time since i can remember.. no spots! this never happened before - even when i was on a conventional diet where i cut out chocolate and sweet things (but kept eating carbs). I have a real sweet tooth so finding a way around that is a challenge, but things like no-sugar jelly are fantastic, esp if you mix double cream with them and whisk furiously (i think there's a recipe for this in the recipe section, although i use less double cream than the recipe says). i've also found on a low-carb/high-protein diet that i eat a lot less - i try to slow down, now, so that my stomach has time to tell my brain its full, and that helps a lot as well.
exercise: I walk the dog every day - days like today, when its freezing cold and its windy and snowing and just generally.. well.. horrible, i do a quick 10 minuter, but other days, i take her for longer, 30 minute walks, and try to walk briskly home to get the heart pumping. I've also gotten one of these exercise DVDs, although i've yet to actually *do* it (need to buy some trainers for that). Still, i'll get there!
I'm currently on 221 pounds (15 stone 11 pounds) and i need to lose an awful lot more (I'm 5 ft 7), but if i can get down to below 15 stone by the end of February i will be *more* than happy... that's my aim, anyway!

i remarked a while ago that mine have gone too! always had loads of the things and now on my face at least they are way way less! exciting eh?!

yep it is. And the really frustrating thing is.. when i was a teenager i'd get the occasional hypo attack, to the point where, if i ignored it, i'd faint (the worst was when i fainted in the middle of a play, in front of the RSC! so embarrassing - had to be carried out!) - i was tested (via urine) numerous times for diabetes, always negative. *now* i understand that its linked to my hormones, but even then i was probably insulin resistant. And i do wonder, if i was a teenager now, what the medical response would be? back then i was told it was just one of those things... if I'd known then, what i know now, could i have staved off the diabetes? not something that can ever be answered, i know, but i've learned more about how *my* body (instead of the human body in general) works in the last few months than i have in the previous 37 years!

Keth, just a word of caution on the speed of your weight loss (btw, it's an excellent loss), but the recommendations are for 1 to 2 lbs per week MAX weight loss in order for the body to cope with it AND to make your weight loss sustainable and not temporary
good luck! i lost 80 lbs and dropped the 'double diabetes' along the way
kate, type 1 LADA? Aug 21,1989 the treatment triad for diabetes is diet/exercise/meds! don't forget your exercise
I lost 3.4 lbs this week although I'm quite certain it is due to the increase of my Symlin. The new dose really makes me feel full quicker...so hopefully I'm eating less. We shall see
This is the only place I know where other people who are also trying to lose weight offer a word of encouragement.
Good work Kethry. Don't lose too fast or you may find yourself really fatigued.
Keth it wouldn't happen 'now' as they'd stab yer finger there and then, which would give a different result to your pee! LOL (urine tells you what your blood was about 2 hours ago (is that correct or is it longer? - ages ago anyway!)
errr, Mark, you are either underweight, or very very short!
what is your BMI? under 19 (?18) is in the danger zone for leaving your body unable to cope with things as simple as the common cold
Thats in Kilos!

TigerLily - its not anything i'm doing deliberately! I'm eating about the same as i was before, in terms of actual volume on the plate, just changing *what* i eat. I assume it'll slow down some as time goes on, anyway....

thanks, hon - and i'll do my best, as i explained to TigerLily, its not something i was deliberately trying to achieve - i was actually working on my BG. the weightloss is just a delightful side effect! (but i ain't complaining)...

yep. and i wonder if they'd have been able to tell me if i was insulin resistant or something? who knows... ah well. at least i know now...
Well the heavier you are the more calories you will burn so the effect should slow down the closer you get to your ideal weight. Meaning last few kilos are gonna be a bitch!
