DSF cards for giving to others/ leaving at surgeries etc.

Sorry about the delay in putting these up. I was hastily putting together a pdf file that I think should work. It contains a large version of the card in two formats: one that fits proprietary cards with a gutter on the page and one for sheets of cards without one. I'm hoping they can simply be copied and scaled to fit any template.

Also in the file is a full page layout to fit the Avery sheets of 10 business cards. This also fits DECAdry cards.

And there's a full layout for Ryman sheets of 10 business cards.

If anyone wants cards and isn't able to run them off, I can print and send some if you PM me with a postal address.

Terry

They all look good! - more thanks to you two than me, methinks!

Presumably you won't mind if such as I - who wasn't recently dx'd - slightly amend the letter to suit?

Alter away!  The letter was only a "suggestion" as to what someone might like to say.  Basically I just wanted to be reassuring that  I was a genuine diabetic with no  agenda other than helping others and that there was no scam or money making intention.

In fact there was another para saying the forum I found closed, but that myself and another moderator opened a new forum.  Unfortunately that wouldn't apply to other folks so I cut it out.  However, it might be worth saying something like.  "The forum I originally joined closed, but a group of us opened a new forum" which would explain why there ain't much going back very far in here!  Lets face it, "a group of us" did start the forum... wouldn't have been much good with just Terry and I talking to each other would it???? LOL!

Was at the Expert Patient Plan training yesterday.  They have resources for several conditions.

Of course I looked in the D file, all that was there was a Diabetes UK pamphlet.  So asked if I could add lots of DSF cards etc.  And yes I can, plus any other resources for the file.

This has the potential for being distributed to the whole of Devon, bar Plymouth and Torquay areas.  Woo hoooooo.

So I shall be printing lots of DSF stuff off at home and adding them to the folder.

If anyone can think of other stuff that I could find, say on the internet and add to it, do please let me know.

Hi Mandy

Thanks for that.  I will see if I can think of anything.  Incidentally, what do you actually learn on the Expert Patient programme?  I have thought of doing it myself but not sure what it entails.

Patti,

well, I did start off thinking that I might just strangle the woman to my right!

However, you get a really thick book, for reference only thank goodness.

There are only 4 of us on this one, all women, and 2 women are running it.

Have only been to the first session of six so far, and can't make it to the one this week as I have to work.

They are 2.5 hour sessions, and I did start thinking, what am I doing here?

But I did get one thing out of it and that was an action plan, and I did find that a good idea.  If I get just one thing from each session then that will be worthwhile.

EPP as you probably know, is for any/all long term/permanent medical conditions, so it is not specific.  Don't know if at the end of it I will feel the time given up and the travelling etc will have been worth it.

I had a call back from the DSN tother day, and Desmond is only available, currently in North Devon.  She thought that the EPP would be as useful.  Don't see that myself, but she did say she would let me know if it came down to our neck of the woods.

So, I will let you know come the end of the EPP as to how it helped, or not.

Thanks Mandy, I think I'll hold fire until I hear from you at the end of the course as to whether it's worth it or not!

Hi all

I recently rang the 4 doctor's surgeries in town (which are the only 4 apart from my own and I'd already given my own nurse some cards and flyers for the forum).  I asked the name of the nurse who dealt with the diabetics and I wrotethe letter below  to them:-

Please feel free to amend as you wish..... here also are some flyers (Courtesy of Sedge - Jenny - who took a lot of care with them) and, as my nurse asked me for them, some cards I made in MS Word.  Terry G made some that work with proprietory business cards stationery and these are also here.

Sorry had to delete original message to re-upload the attachments as there was a mistake on the cards!

Mandy, for the file, you could consider printing some of the info on the front page such as the advice on testing etc.  That could be useful for someone to pick up and take away.

D UK leaflets are rubbish - no content whatsoever.  Even the website is cr@p (and I DO mean the official one on this occasion!).

Jenny,

good idea.

As for the UK Diabetes leaflet, I feel tempted to remove it, but I better not I suppose!

Hi  when cancer treatment is over only two weeks now I hope to go back to my hobby.  I have a stall at many markets and craft fairs, church fetes etc.  I could take leafets with me.  I meet and chat to so many people.  Would it be helpful ?  I cover the East Midlands area.

hi everyone, as you may be aware i am attending the xpert program in bury, lancs, this thursday.
i will be taking a supply of dsf cards with me too. iwas wondering if it would be ok to 'Presented by Moby' onto the card so if anyone does decide to join we  will know where they have 'come from' so to speak. if it is a problem i will just hand them out as they are.
