It is proposed that there will be an informal get together for forum members on Saturday 10 July 2010, venue to be investigated, decided and arranged - but in the Midlands.
Libra201055 and I were both volunteered to find a venue etc. as we live quite near one another and can arrange to get our heads together reasonably easily. The Midlands is our location and we might know bits of it reasonably well, but I wouldn't personally restrict that to only one county or the West Midlands LOL - it won't be on the coast of Wales or the east coast - but anywhere in the middle that it's reasonable to get to from anywhere.
One or other of us can recce any possibilities as soon as every road everywhere isn't impassable LOL - hopefully they won't be blocked by snow by July ...... and we'll try and also avoid major flood areas etc too.
So pencil the dates in your diaries - and any thoughts, suggestions or comments on the subject will of course be extremely welcome!!!

Saturday July10th is fine by me, I go along with everything you've said above. Ray and I have decided, once again, to make a weekend of it, so once you decide on a suitable location, we will be trying to book acommodation nearby, definately for the Saturday night and maybe, if Patti and Julian are doing so, for the Friday as well. Looking fiorward to it already.

It's 40 years since I lived in Solihull Sedge, so no idea where. I think we need somewhere possibly outdoors for a picnic, but with somewhere we could shelter if it rains.
I know one diabetic group did 10 pin bowling on their meet.
I think we'll have to have accommodation on the Friday Rich - we are too far away to travel on Sat.

We will be recceing for picnic venues, parking facilities, pubs, church halls and other bivouac opportunities in case of inclement weather; pubs, restos and caffs, accommodation including camping and caravanning; local retail therapy and 'quincaillerie' opportunities for spouses (Pete loves a good iromnongers/hardware shop - anywhere they sell tools and gadgets LOL)
Anything else to go on the Checklist for the Master Plan?
I thought of one I forgot - and this is naughty cos we spoke of it only on Monday - surprised Libra hasn't said something! - make sure there is also something 'there' of probable interest for kids. Preferably free LOL - but whatever will by no means be the whole focus.

Long bus ride Rod!
Sedge - last year Wendy brought a pogo stick which was well enjoyed by the kids, other than that they played ball games etc and there was deffo something going on in a large bush that involved sneaking food in from the picnic. Though, frankly no one would have minded had they just openly taken it, but I guess it made it more of a game.
